URGENT NEEDS

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

An orphan boy receiving shoes from WHCDC

You never know where God will lead you. In July 1997 Rev. McKinley Battle was sent as a consultant to the Dominican Republic to discuss the possibility of forming a Waste Management Company in Santo Domingo. After the meeting ended, Rev. Battle left the building and noticed a large blue painted building across the street. He was told that the building was a small boys orphanage. His curiosity led him to go across the street and call out for someone to come to the tall gate. A thin woman came out and opened the gate. Inside he saw 30 to 34 little boys ages 2 to 9 running around without shoes, shirts and some without pants. He was moved immediately to make something good happen for them. He reached inside his pocket and gave the lady who opened the gate $100 to purchase some food and promised her that he would return soon.

URGENT NEEDS

PRISON MINISTRY

Ministering at the Prison

In August 2005, Rev. Battle began serving as a volunteer Associate Chaplain with the DC Department of Corrections, Office of Religious/Volunteer and Reentry Services. His first Bible Study was conducted in the Southeast Two Housing Unit where many of the inmates are classified as maximum security pre-trial, post-trial or post-trial awaiting transfer to a designated federal prison. Currently, Rev. McKinley Battle functions as an advocate for the inmate population at the DC Department of Corrections. His humble and anointed style of teaching helps detainees understand the Scriptures as they learn to apply the principles of godly living in their daily lives. Whether inmates are incarcerated or whether they are returning citizens to the larger community, Rev. Battle clearly instructs with simplicity as he ensures that detainees are moving forward in their spiritual growth and development.

ABOUT US

It is a great opportunity and privilege to be instrumental in reaching lost souls and to be able to evangelize to thousands of people who are suffering. Through World Hope, a 501©3 non-profit organization, founded by Dr. David Janney in 1997, we have been able to prepare teachers and preachers to share the gospel, to win lost souls and to evangelize to those who have no hope. We prepare individuals to serve as short-term missionaries.  We inform them of the need to go into the entire world and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. We train the short-term missionaries to carry out this mission by distributing Christian tracts to others in order to give them hope and encouragement. World Hope also enlightens others about God’s love for all through Christian songs, music and liturgical dances. Presenting conferences and holding crusades is also an approach we use to reach out and share the Word of God.
